Our collective was founded in 2024, in response to the colonial violence being enacted against the Palestinian people, in response to the proposed $44 million Cop City in San Pablo, and in response to our noticing the energetic shifts hinting at the need for an organizational infrastructure to better facilitate our communal gathering and learning together.
For many years, we have understood the way in which racial capitalist structures seek to erode the solidarities between Asian diasporic people and our Native and Black relatives; our work is grounded in a refusal of such erosion. We work from an abolitionist and decolonial poetics and politics, in solidarity with all colonized peoples, knowing that the only ethical Asian American position is one that begins with the refusal of model minority subjecthood and the briberies of the imperial core.
Flowers & Fields is an offering to our community, grounded in our Asian American politics, but encompassing all seeking to live ethically here on Ohlone land and beyond. We are with you, and we love you.
